v/a - Hogewoerd : Remove the Piano (Street Performance for Leiden) cs

$7.00

Hogewoerd is a concept compilation of sorts, wherein several musicians have harvested field recordings of a shared improvisational street performance to create an album. To set the time and place: On July 28 2025 Svartvit, Hesker, Max Julian Eastman, Awenydd, and Vincent Dallas happened upon a broken piano on a street corner when the five were in Leiden, playing and attending the Crude Transmissions fest. After a failed attempt to move the piano, the group ended up improvising on it where it lay, in public, gathering some recordings in the process. The recordings were later used as sources by all five artists to compose the warped vignettes that make up this compilation

While the associations tied to the piano evoke a specific sound and feeling, Hogewoerd pays no mind to these preconceptions. This album stays firmly rooted in it's pathway of broken instrument -> noise composition. Familiarity of sounds can be picked out occasionally, but each artist puts these recordings through the paces in their own individual styles. A fine moment of inspiration with repurposed musical remnants, Gracious Host could not be more proud to afix this recording to recycled cassettes.

Recycled tapes, recycled tape cases, silk-screened/hand-stamped labels, and two color j-cards printed on recycled paper.
